About the Department
In the Department of Korean History, students will learn the history of Korea in a concrete and step-by-step manner by dividing it into periods (Ancient: Primitive to Pre-Goryeo, Medieval: Goryeo, Post-Medieval: Joseon, Modern: Opening of the Port to Liberation, Contemporary: Liberation to the Present). Through an efficient and in-depth curriculum, students will develop the discernment and thinking skills to look at the world, countries, and regions, and the past, present, and future in a subjective and reflective manner. In addition, they will develop the ability to selectively collect, systematically organize, comprehensively analyze and interpret a vast amount of information (events, phenomena, symbols, records, etc.), and present alternatives through source criticism training. Furthermore, through lectures and field trips to cultural relics, students can enhance their understanding of Korean culture and develop a sense of cultural content planning.

Academic Activities
Academic Societies
Currently, the Department of Korean History has two academic societies, 'Harang' and 'Damseol'. 'Harang' was established with the purpose of 'finding the ideal through historical research'. 'Harang' is an academic sub-society that participates in the Department of Korean History's annual Cha Oreum academic festival and various competitions related to content creation. 'Damseol' means 'stories exchanged with each other' and was created to be an active society where members plan and communicate with each other.
Clubs
Currently, the Faculty of Humanities has a history debate club, HOWOHEU, centered on students in the Department of Korean History. The club selects current social issues and combines them with historical materials, and then holds weekly presentations and discussions, regular field trips and MTs every semester, and holds a welcome party for new students and a founding festival every year. Through this, we promote socialization among students of various majors who are interested in history and improve their presentation and discussion skills.
